We have just released a new version of BuddyFuse for Windows Live Messenger. Based on the adoption and feedback since our previous release, we have enhanced our Twitter support and BuddyFuse has been translated into several new languages. Also, a number of small issues have been fixed in this version.

You will now receive notifications for Twitter @replies and direct messages like seen in the image on the right.

Furthermore, the software has been translated into Chinese, French, German and Portuguese (English and Dutch were already available). Thanks a lot to the translators Marcelo, MessLive, mynetx and picturepan2 for helping us out!

Please note that if you have previously installed the English version of BuddyFuse, you’ll have to manually switch to the language of your choice from the settings window (click on the BuddyFuse icon in the main window –> Settings).

In the current version, you can add your accounts from Google, Twitter and Hyves (a popular Dutch social network). Once you have added your Google account, all your Google Talk chat contacts will be loaded into Messenger. When your friends are online on Google Talk you can chat with them just like with regular Messenger buddies. Our Twitter support currently means BuddyFuse can automatically Tweet your Messenger personal message status updates. In the video below you see how everything works:

The Dutch Hyves-only version has been available for a while and the thousands of early adopters have provided us with valuable feedback, enabling us to release this first international version supporting more networks. Thanks!

Of course, we still have a lot of plans for future releases. At the top of our list is support for more chat  networks (XMPP/AIM/ICQ) and social networks like Facebook. With BuddyFuse, we hope to turn our favorite chat program into a full-fledged social networking client!
